Experiences We Did Not Expect to Enjoy at Walt Disney World

We recently returned from Walt Disney World just a couple of weeks ago. Upon our return, we realized that we were surprised by enjoying certain experiences that we really thought we would not. This brought us to reflecting on some other experiences that have surprised us over the years.

Take a watch at our video below to see what those specifics experiences are!

The very first “shocker” for us was Living with the Land. This attraction is over in The Land pavilion in Epcot. I remember riding this one when I was little and not being thrilled with it. So much so, that I had pretty much forgotten about it. Anthony does not remember experiencing this ride. So, we both were somewhat stunned at this hidden gem that many people seem to glazed right passed. The fact that this attraction gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the agricultural aspect of the parks adds such a fun and different dimension entirely alternate from a thrill ride.

We have mentioned this one before now….but DINOSAUR. We know that many people have very strong opinions on this ride and a great majority do not like it. I, however, love it! Its the kind of adventure that is scary enough without being too much. Unless you are Anthony. This attraction in Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland puts some genuine fear into Anthony. I really do not know why he continues to ride this attraction! Yet, he does and I get to laugh the entire ride while he yells. Who could pass that up?

Splash Mountain is the next one up that mostly pertains to me. I had always been too afraid to ride this one when I was younger. A couple of trips ago, I hopped into the log and wondered if I was going to hate myself for doing so. I absolutely did not! It was such a pleasant surprise, and as Anthony mentions in the video, I wanted to keep riding it again and again.

We always knew that we enjoyed Jungle Cruise. However, as young kids, we did not remember many of the jokes. Most of them probably went over our heads. Now, it is such a joy to listen to the skippers tell their tales and jokes while cruising down the river. Sure, there are the classics that you know will always make an appearance like “the backside of water.” Even with those, the skippers put their own personal touch on the experience that makes it such a welcome surprise.

One of our last ones is simply relaxing in the parks. Both of us kind of grew up visiting the parks with a mindset of needing to ride everything multiple times. The rides were the reason we were there. Now, we have started to take a small step back so that we can enjoy the atmosphere, the smells, the details, and the stories that we entirely missed before this trip. We not only take the time to look for those hidden Mickey’s, but also to look at the common details that point to a story woven into the parks. That has been such a joy to change the tone of our trip to a more relaxing one.

Lastly, and kind of an example of our previous point about taking in the details, just take a look at the ground in Toy Story Land. Specifically the main walkway. Maybe even stand a bit to the side… You will noticed groovings in the ground. See if you can tell what shape those groovings make. And enjoy!
