Five Fun Facts for Disney Parks
The Disney parks are full of trivia and fun facts. We don’t have time to cover every, single one. There are whole books of history and trivia dedication to just one ride or and aspect of the parks filled with details for you! However, we want to share a couple of our favorite bits of knowledge that really pluses the park experience for you. They are totally random, but we still want you to know them just for fun!
Speaker on Main Street U.S.A.
We all love the the classic, turn-of-the-century music that floods the air on Main Street. Right? Have you ever noticed that you can’t find the speakers though? … Think about it. There are no speakers to be found there! Here’s our fun trivia: the speakers are hidden within the building lining Main Street! Yeah! Many of the window vanes are masking massive speakers that pump the nostalgic music onto that avenue.
You Figuratively Die in Haunted Mansion
The Haunted Mansion has been through many different stories and iterations through the years. One of the stories was that the owner of the mansion was a wealthy pirate who wanted to hide the fact of his life as a pirate, even from his new wife. While exploring through the house, the wife went up to the attic and found proof of his earlier life. The husband, enraged, got into a tussle with her and pushed her out the window!
That, our friends, is why you fall backwards out the window into the cemetery. It is also why the caretaker looks at you what a shocked look. You have joined the dead!
Now, the story has changed even since then. Today, the story is that you actually die by getting pushed out the window. Doesn’t that info make it so much more fun to experience that part of the ride?!
There’s Sewage in Liberty Square
Okay okay. Kind of. Ever noticed that brown path that runs in the middle of the streets in Liberty Square? (If not, I bet you will notice it now!) That path is actually representative of the historical times. Back in colonial times, there wasn’t plumbing like we have today. Often times, sewage would run right into the streets and there would be higher parts (sometimes) to walk above the grime. So, this is a direct shout out to those times. Plus, follow that path and you’ll notice it starts…at the restrooms.
Origins of Hidden Mickeys
Back when EPCOT first opened in Walt Disney World, they were very careful to set it apart from a lot of the Disney IP to keep the park super educational. Many of the imagineers wanted to have little hints of the park’s tie to Disney though. What did they do, you might ask? They integrated some small, hidden mickeys within their designs—shouting out to the fact that it all started with a mouse. From there, the idea to have Hidden Mickeys spread through the parks and across the worldwide resorts!
The Horse with the Golden Ribbon is NOT Cinderella’s Horse
Alright. This is a fun fact that is NOT a fun fact. Sorry if we are spoiling a big piece of info that you loved by sharing this with you. On Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel, there is a horse with a golden ribbon tied on its tail. We have shared this story before and you can find how this rumor started here. However, this has actually been denied by many Disney historians and executives since it just doesn’t fit Cinderella’s story and the kind of horse she would have!
We hope you enjoyed all of this information to boost your fan status of Disney parks. Enjoy having fun things to share with your friends and family the next time you visit!
